Romans 12:2
"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect."
So this week I was given Romans 12:2 again, I'm pretty sure I have at least one or 2 more times this comes up. At first I thought this was repetitive but there is a reason this verse is so popular and to say "this verse again?" is a pretty poor way to treat the word of God. This verse is all focused on going against the ways of the world, the "cultural norms" as it's sometimes called.
This world tells us so many things that are wrong, unhealthy, and evil are okay and acceptable and if you speak against those evils then you get labeled as the bad guy. We aren't supposed to give in to evils and lies no matter how comfortable they are. It's really easy to fall into the ways of the world because they are comfortable and convenient and they don't challenge us when in reality they challenge the truth of God's word, we often over look that.
It's defiantly easy to fall short and get tripped up, we all do it, we all make mistakes. We need to remember our past is just part of us, it doesn't get to dictate who we are or what our future is. If we make a mistake, acknowledge it, own it, and move forward with the intention to not make those worldly mistakes again. That's why I think this verse is such an important verse to so many people. It's a battle we have to face almost every hour of every day and hearing this verse repeated to me multiple times helps remind me to stay focused on what's really important, not what others in this world tell us is important.
